    Coleman County Rut?

Anyone see any rut action near Coleman? Plan on hitting it hard during this weekends cold front.

My dad was hunting, our place is NE Coleman county, west of Burkett (Echo area). He didn't see much sign of rut yet, but I have to believe it's going to start in earnest in a few days.

My wife scheduled family photos this next weekend, I'm going to miss the rut and cooler weather too !

On my way home from Lake Brownwood yesterday morning (10:30ish), only 2 miles from Cross Plains, I saw a 6pt chasing a doe about 30 yds from the highway. Broad daylight, right by the road. I'd say it's on.

Saw 4 mature bucks this weekend in 5 hunts and ALL were locked down with does. They wouldn't eat just stand there waiting on doe to feed and to move then they would be right behind her. I think they're further along than most people think, warmer temps and big moon has them doing most of their chasing and looking at night so hunters are not seeing it. IMO

I traveled from Hawley to the country south of Baird and back, and noticed three small bucks hit on the side of the road, and only one doe. I'd say at least the young ones are moving a bit.

Not a single thing seen this morning. Thinking they are locked down?

We had a slow morning also SW of Oplin. Trail cam shows two new bucks in the past week. It should continue to get better each day until Thanksgiving.

This is my 2nd year hunting in the brownwood area and this weekend has been the slowest by far...normally see 5-10 deer a sit and I haven't seen one in 3 sits so far. I stopped hunting feeders and now focusing on trails. I'm leaned up against a tree as we speak. Normally quite a bit of action in this area of the property and still not a sign of a deer 2 hours into this sit. Getting pretty frustrated lol
