Disc Cooker Question

Disc cooker pros. How would I refurbish or clean this up so it can be cooked on?

Been sitting outside very rusty.

Assuming I get it cleaned up other than the obvious don't leave outside in the rain how do cafe for them?

A wire wheel on my grinder.
Rinse and wash well
Grind again if needed wash again.
Heat it up really hot to dry
Coat in oil so it absorbs as it cools.

Keep out of rain.

Thanks preferred oil? I keep this at a campsite on ranch. No real space to keep inside. Guess I can cover w a tarp...
