    Fletching and wind

I don't remember if this has been disgust but with allot of people going to Blazers from 4" vanes whats best in wind. Will the 4" vane be more stable or will the wind catch them.Or will the Blazer do best in the wind and what about the rain or humidity. Please give your opinion.

I really don't think there is any problem with this in a hunting situation. The distances are close enough and if the wind is that bad, the deer probably aren't moving anyway. In competitive archery, the distances are far enough for moderate winds to make a difference. In this case, the lower profile vane, the less the wind affects the arrow. Anyway, if I remember right, you can't shoot worth a hoot to begin with!

Hunting in New Mexico this year and hurricane Ike (I think or was it Gustav) winds chasing me I set a target up at 40 yards and shot 4" vanes and 1/2" FOB's and there was a difference in strong crosswinds.

how much of a difference? at longer yardages, there will always be an effect. the shaft size will also have an effect.
