    Use the calculator (feldons) as suggested. The only other thing I remind everyone, make sure the smoke stack extends down into the cook chamber to down below the lowest cooking rack.

      BBQ pit design help

      I have designed and built a dozen or so, from medium sized to larger sized hobbyist pits. 20" diameter will be just fine for your application, I use 24" usually but have used 20" per customers request a couple of times. It's hard to say what the thickness of those air tanks will be until you cut them, but hope for at least 3/16". Search some of my diy threads, I wish I'd have done more build along threads than I have, as they are cool to look back on.
