    Eastland Co. Bound

    Just left work, headed home to pack. My wife and I are headed to Eastland Co. with a couple who called last night, and invited us to join them at their family property for the weekend. Anyone in that area know what the rut is doing? Starting, middle of, first rut over? Just curious on how to approach the trip and what to pack. I'm kind of hating that I won't be at the lease, seems like the bucks are cruising pretty hard...but I won't turn down the chance to enjoy different scenery thanks in advance for any info, gentlemen

    Young bucks are starting to chase a little, mature bucks are moving though. Afternoon hunts are best with the moon, had 5 bucks in my food plot at 3:30 yesterday when I walked to my blind....

      As of last weekend the deer were running hard. Food plots were the place to be. Bucks were coming in and picking out does and chasing. Good luck!

        I watched a young up and comer this morning, good mass and width, just 3.5. I'd like to be invited up here yearly, so I watched him and let him walk this evening was dead. My wife shot a doe around 5:30...she said she kept waiting for a buck to step out but as it started to get dark, she decided to go ahead and get some fresh meat for the table. I'll give it another shot in the morning before we head home

            I didn't hunt this morning. Woke up and decided to help the owner get a few things done around the cabin and get a list of what is needed to fix a few feeder pens that she's having some issues with the cattle destroying. Her son-in-law was supposed to have fixed it, and didn't. But she asked me to get back up there and fix it when I get a chance. So that's what I plan on doing small price to pay for allowing me to come hunt up there in my opinion

              That's cool. I saw 3 bucks. My brother saw a lot more on a food plot
