Eat like a horse but can't gain weight. We put a bird feeder and bird house in the backyard to keep him entertained during the summer when it's to hot to run. He spends his summer chasing dirds and swimming in the pool. He is very active.
Its full of carbs. Imagine being fed chinese food every day. You are hungry a hour later. That's what you get with Pro Plan.

I've got a Brittany that burns more calories than any combination of any three dogs I've ever owned. That dude is 100 mph from the time he wakes up until he foes in his kennel for the night. He's tough to keep weight on. I feed him like a horse and he has a healthy appetite. But dang, it's hard to feed tht dog enough to keep his ribs from showing. He's as healthy as can be too. I just think he burns so many calories that he stays thin. He loves to be outside. When he's outside, he's burning laps in my back yard and stalking or chasing anything that moves. He gets after flys, grasshoppers, or anything else that flys. He's got alot of drive and burns through alot of energy because of it.

Exactly how duke is. And i use the pro plan sensitive stomach food. Its got the salmon in it and it does good for him. Shines his coat right up and looks good. Other than the price i cant complain it fixed the problem i had with him crappin his pen all up. Id just like some more weight but sounds like thats how they all are young. Ill try and find a pic of him

OP, as far as the Diarrhea, I have a GSP with the same issue you described. The way I got it to go away is by doing exactly what I described. For example, day 1, I give her 1.5 cups total food in the morning. I would only put about 10 nuggets of the Sciencediet. I do that in the evening too. Second day, double that. This did the trick for me. Just takes forever, and a piece of scratch paper to remember.
You do understand that website is run by a human dentist right? he has very little evidence to back up his stance and almost no science behind it. I tuely doubt if it was suck a horrible food you would see national champions being fed it yet they are. I know food can affect them each is its own separate circumstance. Like I said I own 7 GSPs and actually feed several types of food to different ones. My mentor/dog trainer has over 30 dogs. Both his and mine hunt over 70 days of quail, compete locally and compete nationally. Purina pro sport works just fine for a large portion of dogs and allows them to compete at a top level.

There are lots of studies showing it is better for the dog to be under weight than over as it put stress not only on their structure but also on their heart and tendons. There is really no need to worm him every month either. Another thing to try that will help his stomach problems is feeding twice a day. Good luck and get the dog on some quail as it is an epic year!
If i had quail to put him on i would! There aint none in brazos county! Lol

Thees some good public lands if your willing to travel. this year maybe a year of a lifetime from most of the experts. Where my dogs guide they moved 30 coveys just a couple days ago and as the broomweed gets knocked down and colder temps I expect it to get better.

We've got our dogs on Purina One. We used to be on Pro Plan until they changed the picture on the front of the bag and the price went from $40/bag to $50/bag. Those folks are pretty proud of that picture. Talked to my vet about it. He said Purina One is good food and that it's what he feeds his own dogs. Our dogs seem to like it. They're healthy, their coats look healthy, energy levels are good. Purina One costs alot less than Pro Plan, so we won't be going back.

No, there is little to none on his site. But that gets someone enough information to know terms to search, and research what actually goes into food. Science diet, quality wise, is little different. The primary difference was ratios of fat to carbs to protein. That's what I am driving at, is the balance of carbs, fat, and protein.

I don't know that I said it was a horrible, I just said science diet is better. Its like cheeseburgers, they are all good, some are just better. And sometimes switching between the two will give you diarrhea.
