How long is too long? Advice needed!

A buddy of mine put a not so good shot on a deer yesterday around 2.

We looked for him for about two hours last night but spooked him around 8 and backed out until this morning.

It was about 40 out last night here in commerce.

We found him 30 minutes ago with some lucky tracking.

Is he ok to eat?

So he's probably only been dead around 12 hours? I've eatin stuff in the refrigerator that was at least a week old. He'll be fine.

He died after 8...probably 4-6 hours after. Lets say he died at midnight....

That's 10 hours at 40, body took another 2-4 hours to start to cool down.


I'd go for it, but that's just me.
