Who's making these little mounds in my yard?

They pop up all over the place, especially after it rains. When I scrape off the top, there is a hole about the size of a worm. With a little Google searching, I'm getting answers that are all over the place.

I have the same thing. I usually see some kind of dung beetle close by rolling the dogs poo.

I don't think it's beetles and we don't have dogs.

Kinda look like worm holes. Do you usually see them after a rain?

Bingo. And it's a good thing. They keep the soil conditioned.

Interesting. I didn't want to influence the replies with my opinion, but I had decided it was crickets. Looks like the consensus is worms, which I would be thankful for.

Guess I'll have to set up a camera and see who's doing the digging.

Back in my pest control days I sent an exact pic of what you have to a phd entomologist and he replied that it was earthworms. He was an aggie so take it for what its worth

                              Definitely earthworms

It is actually a good thing for the soil.
