I've never had much luck on opening day, bow or rifle. My oldest had a volleyball game this morning so I didn't make it to the field until this afternoon. It was pretty slow until 3 does walked to the feeder after it threw, them this buck just appeared. Have no idea where he came from! He was scent checking, but none of the ladies were ready.
The .308 barker and he piled up about 10 yards away.
He's the biggest bodied whitetail I've shot in Texas - his fat cap was thicker than any I've seen here. Great way to start (and to an extent, end) the season. Even captured the moment of success on the game camera!
