    Processed meat labeling question(s)

Okay, bear with me and the details but I've gotta make sure I don't get me and others in trouble with the game warden.

I had my elk processed and there's nothing on the packaging that notes it's elk. Cutlets packages say "Deer steak".

I was planning on using the hamburger to give to friends who want their processor to make sausage for them. I've got the original order form showing that it's elk but I would hate to give them meat and have them show up at ANY processor during deer season to get tangled up with the wardens.

Is it enough for me to give them a Wildlife Resource Document noting that it's elk or what do you guys think? Different processors tell me different things so I'm hoping you guys have some thoughts. Should I contact the original processor and ask them to make 100 "elk" stickers that I add to all of the packages for clarity?

get a sharpie, cross out deer, add 'elk'... if the wardens have a question, they will send the meat for testing and it will come back elk. I would, however, follow up with the processor and ask them if they have an 'elk' stamp to make sure they didnt give you someones deer. This is why I do all my won processing!
