I'm shooting a PSE 52# with a G5 Montech, blew straight threw the rib cage and came out the other side.

You can also get a 60# bow and turn it down to 50. Helps with resale if it has a peak of 60, or if you get stronger and want to go up some..

One thing to keep in mind is a bow with its limbs backed all the way out (60 lb backed down to 50) won't be as accurate, quiet or efficient. I understand what you're saying, but never buy a bow based on resale, buy the bow that fits your needs.

I shoot a 56# Xpedition Xcentric 7, 344 IBO @ 28" DL, 420 grain FMJ's, 259 FPS with Kudupoints beveled 2 blade BH's. It's slow and quiet as a mouse but it blew through a buck I shot last week. Entered his ribcage and exited his off shoulder, continued traveling 15 yards past the deer. IMO, slow and heavy and a well tuned bow = easily passthrough a whitetail deer. I see a lot of TV hunters pulling 65-70# using expandables and even some fixed blades and the deer runs off with half the arrow hanging out of it. I think it's a poorly tuned bow and light arrows and it's equaling **** poor penetration. Tune your bow for perfect arrow flight, shoot sharp broadheads and you'll blow right through a deer.

Sackett- Thanks for the heads up.
Daniel 75- congrats on your buck! Looks like you gonna have tons of good eating this year nom nom lol. Your right, I have noticed that many people on hunting shows use heavy draw weight bows like 70# or more for deer hunting, to me it sounds it's too much but it's totally up to the individual's preference.

Y'all are the experts - can you explain how much does it change performance to go from say 50# to 60# (same bow)? I have a No Cam Mathews....

As you increase the draw weight, it makes the arrow faster and the kinetic energy goes up .

LOL Thanks! I kinda figured that... I was looking for a little more detail perhaps on avg speed change when making that kind of adjustment...
