    How would you hunt this???

So this is a piece of public I've scouted once with private to the north that does have feeders and possibly a few food plots. There is a forest round coming up out of the south that loops up towards the private land. Where would you set up and what would be your approach? Keep in mind a few things.

#1 - the hike to get even close to the private is over 2 miles so it's not like I'm driving right up to it and shooting off someone else's place.

#2 - it's really thick. Like stupid thick other than around the access road.

#3 - the access road is only used by forest service and hasn't been driven that far back in months due to fallen timber and lack of any human presence.

So what say you? Hunt up towards the end of the trail in a somewhat open area? Try to fight through briars and dense foliage to get to a spot that may or may not work? Or scratch it all together bc it's not likely to produce? I did see deer sign up towards the end. Mostly all doe tracks with pig tracks mixed in walking down the road trail.

Will set up on the top circle in the morning and see how it goes.

Are there any slight hill sides or draws?

There is a slight hill with a draw about where the number 3 is on the pic. Saw deer tracks there too but looked to possibly been scouted. Saw red ribbon marking going off the main forest trail.

#2 circle appears it may also have a draw but you have been there and i have not.
I like hunting near draws whether they be deep or just slightly lower than the surrounding elevation. But, if it appears someone else might be in that area its tough to know where to set up. Grunt, and maybe tickel some antlers

Might not be a bad idea! I like the draw near the number 3. It's one small draw that feeds into another draw. The top circle is more on to of a knoll and it feeds down to a creek to the north. I don't guess one could go wrong either way. Both spots have deer sign. I just like the thought of being away from where anyone else may be or has been.

Sharing public land spots is a way to make them more 'public' than you want.

                  Good Luck!

He's right. Although I don't think it will come in the form of a TBH brother...more from a lurker who reads but hasn't joined

Kinda hard to get info without showing a generic pic of a fraction of a section of hundreds of thousands of acres of public land....

But I get what everyone is saying. Then again, I never said this was in Texas either! [emoji16]

Working on it. Trying to find time. It's not close enough to run to on a whim.
