    If You Found Out

That you were getting ripped by the lease manger on price of lease and paying lets say $2 an acre more than he was..
    WHAT would YOU do??

Being a lease manager is a royal pain in the butt and I have heard of several lease managers who pay less than the rest of the lease members for the hassle of the job. Not sure what your situation is, but it is not an uncommon thing.

It depends, some leases are setup by one guy who works out a deal with the landowner and then invites others on to it. Typically in this situation the guy that worked it will set the price he quotes those he invites will cover his part of it too. Kinda' like reselling a good that he has purchased. In that case I would just take it for the way things are and go on.
If, however, the manager was just the guy in the group that is a mere point of contact for the landowner I think that I would be ****** something awfull.
I hope that I have made the distinction clear here. I don't think I should get flamed for this if I made my opinion clear enough. If I did not then pm me and I'll try to be clearer.

What Cull said - being a lease manager and putting up with all the crap that goes with it is certainly worth something.

I have always figured it was common practice for the lease managers to get a price break in some fashion and I have even heard of hunting club board members getting reduced lease fees for being on the board.

Depends on whether he flat lied to you about what he was paying or if he just didn't tell you. It is actually a pretty common practice with lots of guys that "manage" leases to "resell" the lease at a higher price to cover their own hunting. Different story if he told you or led you to believe that he was paying the same as you.

On our lease, the lease manager is responsible for paying all the utilities and collecting the lease dues whenever they come up. He is also the only one that signs the lease contract as the Leesee and is responsible for the payment of all 7 on our lease. If someone decides to get off right before the money is due, then basically the manager is responsible for that share until someone if found to replace the other member. If you are lucky, the other members might split this until someone is found, but they are not responsible for the money. Try rounding up money from people that are scattered across the area to pay a $300+ electric bill and such. Although we all pay the same on our lease and have a lease manager, would you want the responsibility of a lease manager and all the associated headaches that go with it. If you were told that all the lease members would be paying the same, then yes I would be upset, but if you were told that this is the cost of the lease to you as a member, then I would think that is what it was and I would live with it or find a place that everyone pays the same no matter who the mamager is.

I wouldn't say ripped off, maybe he just avoided telling you, and yes its not an uncommon thing.

I can understand the manager getting some compensation..lets throw in ANOTHER additive..you were paying for a spot that no one ever hunted and you COULDNT hunt due to boundries

I would be upset if he keeps taking your beer, not let you hunt any good spots, leaves dirty dishes, not pay you back for the trhee bags of ice that you bought him when you were in town, throws away your toothbrush, says you can't shoot the 12 pt buck that you saw because he has dibs on him, says no guests and then brings his 26 year old son hunting or burns all of the wood you spent the afternoon cutting and doesn't replace said wood.

Sorry, got a little carried away, but I am not bitter.

I put together 2 quebec bear hunt for 4 then 8 people(all travel and booking and everything), a large 50+ person javelina hunt and now planning caribou for 4-6 people. It is frustrating to spend so much time on it and when any money is even a little off you eat it. I have yet to get a break on anything, more like it is it costs me more because my name is on everything. I could see why he would want a break in price and I don't blame him, but he shouldn't hide it from you either.

Your deal is your deal and the other guy's deal is his deal so be happy with your deal and don't fret over other people's deals. (Mathew 20:1-15)

OK, so maybe I was paraphrasing!
