How long should a 50lbs Salt/Mineral block last?????

My answer is less than 3 weeks. I put out 2 by 2 different corn feeders on my property in Milam Co. No cows, a few deer and plenty of hogs. I was very surprised to find both blocks were completely gone when I came back just 3 weeks later. I thought someone stole them since I have had these type of blocks last months at other leases.

Have you had or heard of hogs going through a 50lbs block of salt that quick?

I know we put out a few trophy rocks late summer and at first they seemed to get hit hard. Of course we had cows on the place and one of the particular blocks that was getting hit hard had a heifer getting in the pen on a regular basis. We bought a few more blocks late September based off the judgement that deer were using them because of that one block and haven't really noticed much activity on them since. So i'm interested in this discussion as well. Do these things really work and if so what time of year do they usually work best?

Yep before we had hogs a block would last several months now that we have hogs lucky if they last a month some only make it a couple weeks

Absolutely they will. I've had 30 pound bags of the crushed gone in 3 days.

Also, is it possible they rolled it off? I've had that happen a few times.

I put out a trophy rock in July.... its almost gone now.. maybe less than 1/4 of it left. no cows, no hogs. I keep them in my hand corn spots so if I cant get back to put corn out often enough it "might" keep them frequenting the location. with that said, they cant like it to much of they haven't eat it all in roughly 4 months.

I just put out my 3rd trophy rock since march. I tried a regular 50lb. mineral block from TSC at another location and it was gone in about 6 weeks the trophy rocks seem to last a lot longer for me anyway. I also have no cows on the place and I don't put them directly on the dirt I use a small pallet that I put side boards on.
