Looking forward to my 10 days afield, cooking ahead some chicken spaghetti, Venison soup, and snack sticks.. Cant wait, didnt get to hunt this weekend, Ready for next time out...
There was a time when supper at deer camp was a big production with everybody contributing something. Now I am on a place with just two other guys and I am often there alone, so taking Tupperware out of the ice chest and throwing it in the microwave is what I do most of the time.
Freeze it in gallon freezer bags and just leave in ice chest throughout the week They thaw but stay cold and just throw in the pot and heat up. Worked out great on a 5-day elk drop camp in colorado.
they've been mentioned, but chili and spaghetti are good ones to precook. i love to cook. but, we have a tiny crap kitchen in an RV or it's over the camp fire. plus, i don't want to spend all weekend on prep.
I do sometimes. I would cook up crumbled breakfast sausage, scramble 3 eggs(uncooked) and a pat of butter and I would freeze them in sandwich bags for future hunts. Pour it into a bowl and microwave for 45 seconds or until the eggs are to your liking. Top with cheese and salsa. Hot breakfast like that sure goes farther than a stale honeybun while sitting in the cold.
Otherwise I just plan my camp meals into my family weekly menu and take leftovers like chili, pot roast, pork tenderloin and various casseroles.
I also have a crockpot at camp. I just dump all the ingredients in after my morning hunt, it's done when I come in after the pm hunt
