Chainsaw question

I need to replace the bar and chain on a Husqvarna 350 I bought from Lowe's a few years ago. That model is no longer made - I went to three Lowe's and couldn't find the 18" bar and chain it came with. Is there any reason I couldn't go down to a 16" or up to a 20" bar and chain? If it is made by Husqvarna I would think it would fit. I have read that you often get better performance with a shorter bar - and 16" would be plenty for the cutting I do.
(BTW, I could order the 18" online but I want to pick one up on the way out of town this weekend)

You just have to make sure the new chain will work with your current sprocket

You need to call these folks. I have zero affiliation with them.

Take the saw with you, have them put new bar/chain on and assure you the sprocket size is correct. Even the pros screw it up sometimes. I would make sure the saw runs and the chain is functioning before leaving.

I've had too many saw issues - at reputable shop(s) - to take any chances.

Going down a size should be no problem.

If i were you I would find a good small engine repair shop and bypass the box stores horrible customer service at those places.

Just make sure the chain drive links match the sprocket...or you will be buying both again.

Like mentioned above make sure the sprocket and chain match. You will have more power with using the 16".
