It's a very subjective art to age whitetail on the hoof. Even aging by them by their teeth is rather subjective. Having experience enough to be confident in both of these areas, I would call him a 2.5 year old. I agree with chance love in that the sway is just because of the way he is standing at the time of the photo. Also, little bits of grey hair on his back should be at the bottom of your list of cues when again a deer on the hoof. There is so much discrepancy in color from deer to deer, that it is nearly impossible to tell age based on color of the coat. As for the mass, don't worry about it, give him a few years at least, and if his genetics are at least mediocre, he'll fill out.
