A lot of the responses so far are about what I expected and all of them are certainly valid. I'm kind of looking for something that is going to cut a bigger hole than the typical 2 blade or even most 3 blades. I'm not going to get caught up on calculating momentum, ke, or even foc because I already know that I want to be in the 150-170 grain range on the front of my arrows. I have a good idea that this will give me the flight and penetration that I want.

Keep em coming. So far this is a long list of really good heads that I would probably want to use on elk.

Felix, PM me your address and I'll send you on of the Wensel Woodsman heads to try out if you want. They have almost 9 inches of cutting surface! (3 blades almost 3" long).

I appreciate the offer! I'm fairly familiar with the woodsmans and have shot similar heads out of my recurve. It still only has a cutting diameter a hair over an inch and I'm honestly not sure how it would fly out of a fast bow. You better hang onto all of them you have because it seems like they last forever!

It's kind of looking like what I want has been done before (nap spitfire magnum) but it wasn't very popular so they don't make them anymore. I was hoping there was something I didn't know about that is currently being made

I shoot 125 grain helix single bevel with a 100 grain brass insert. I love the way they fly and penetrate. They make them from 85 grain up to 250 grain I believe.

I shoot the 200 grain Helix, love these heads!

I recently bought some Kudu Points heads (I think that's the name), they are very good looking and fly true. Gage is going to use them, they are 125.

I like the VPA 150 two blades, fly great. Haven't shot anything with them, yet.
I've had good success with the Magnus 125's, and they make a 150 too, but it looks "big"
My GK 125s make so much noise in flight I'm afraid to use them. They sound like a jet during takeoff?

Heck, if you want big holes, get you some 150 grain Snuffers! Those suckers cut a heck of a hole!

This, and they are the best made broad head you will find, sharp as all get out. Or step it up to 175 grains and get the XXL( 1 7/8 cut ). I shoot the 125 grain XL ( 1 1/2 inch cut) with a 20 grain weight on the back of my gold tip insert. They are expensive though.
You probably know about the Simmons broad heads. They offer some wide cutting broad heads also . Just can't remember if they offer a 150 grain head, I would think they do.

Oh yea, I shoot the wensels out of an Excalibur Matrix 380 crossbow too and they fly like darts. Put a head shot on a 100 pound boar facing me and it came out dead center between his nutz... He dropped like a sack of nutz too...

That's good info about the flight! Ever shoot any out to 60 or so?

Yessir with the X-Bow. Several of us that hunt hogs in east Texas use the wensels, and out of some pretty hot bows too... 300+ fps on some... My old shoulders have slowed mine way down, but they still blow thru most pigs...

You might PM CastandBlast and ask him... He shoots 'em too or he might see this and chime in. He's sort of a speed freak too... We all shoot pretty heavy arras... 500+ (though I don't really consider that heavy, but by today's standards it's way above normal).

I'm kind of in the same boat. Feeling like maybe people haven't quite caught onto the benefits of going up in point and/or arrow weight. I just want to be somewhere in the middle of the road. I'm not a speed freak or a super heavy arrow guy. Still, it is my sincere hope that I will be able to get a 490ish grain arrow into the upper 280s or low 290s.
