Best video camera for the buck???

How about some opinions on whos's using what and why they like it?!! I would like to get another video camera for the field. I prefer the hard drive model but need something not so complicated with a million settings to decipher (sp) . A "point and film" would be great!(needs still shot capabilities as well) Something under a grand would be preferrable. It would also be nice if it would fit in the backpack and be easy to transfer video to post up. Any advice is appreciated.
    Good hunting,
    Brice

No expert here.. LOL.. just make sure the optical zoom is 30x or more.. don't even worry about the digital zoom, that distorts... Sony's are good. Where's my phone call? LOL

make SURE to get one with exceptional low light sensitivity. Most are useless long before shooting light is gone. I've learned the hard way.
