    Polaris Wheel Help Needed

    I'm a bit embarrassed to post this but I'm needing some wheel help.
    I have a '12 Crew 800 and was trying to buy an extra set of rims/tires. A guy had some '16 cast wheels that didn't even see the road so I bought them only to find out that the rims, because of the way they're made don't fit my '12.

    The Polaris dealer in Goldthwaite was less than helpful in walking me through the issue.

    Here's the questions:
    If my front TIRE is a 26x9R12 what size rim do I need?
    If my rear TIRE is a 26x11R12, what size rim do I need?
    I assume they're not the same?

    On a whim, does anyone have any extras you're wanting to sell??
    I've now got 4 brand new cast rims off of a 2016 Crew XP 900 HD. Ugh.

        Thanks Michael. I found what I needed but it's going to mean Ive got a set of 2016 take-offs I'll have to get rid of now. Argh...

          For tire sealant purposes, I just found out that the rim is 14" if that helps. I have a 12 Diesel Crew. I got a set of aftermarket wheels from Discount Tire. If you go that route don't let the f'era sell you the Gorilla lugs that need a key. I lost two of the keys before finally giving up and getting regular lugs. Offroad and flat tires don't do well with special keys.

              I try to keep the extra wheels with some kind of tire that holds air. 8 between aftermarket and stock still don't seem like enough. On the front of the wheels, the size is printed into the steel. Front slightly narrower than the rear. You can throw in the obligatory "DUH" whenever, but passing on what I learned. The aftermarket wheels that DT sold me are all the same width, so same size, same as the stock rear wheels.

              As much as they pizz me off sometimes, Discount knew a lot more than the dealers. I've been to the one you mention and won't be back. Alamo CyclePlex in San Antonio seemed most knowledgeable over the phone, with Tuttle Tractor in Poteet being a close second.

                That's great advice Kingchip. No matter how many spares, slime, etc., we are always dealing with flats from the sharp rocks and/or the thorns. I laugh at how much I pay to put slime in them and they still seem to leak . I guess the million dollar question is how many leaks it seals that I actually don't know about.

                  A tire change guy here in Marble Falls, (sorry that may disqualify him) told me that Green Slime eats tires from the inside. So basically while sealing tires it is also softening the rubber. I found that the green stuff freezes or something. I have had 4 tires up and ready with no leaks at sundown, get a light freeze, and all four be flat the next morning. Maybe that's not it, but something goes wrong.

                  I don't remember the name of this red slime stuff that the tire guy told me that all the landscaping/mower/shredder guys use. I bought some. We will see how it works.

                    My "new" tire guy in Comanche uses some red stuff called "Stop Leak", or at least that's what he called it

                      Called Multi Seal. Dealer told me it would seal up to a 308 bullet hole. This stuff claims to be what the military uses. Now I don't buy the bullet hole thing, but maybe it will seal thorn holes and not rot the tires. This stuff was $70/gal and takes 1/2 gal/tire. If it sucks I'll let you know it sucks.

                        Multi Seal is good stuff expensive, but does work.... Interesting about Green Slim, I just put in 2016 Ranger xp tires.... Looks like I may be in market for new tires myself in near future.

                          Does he also work part time at the gun counter for Academy? Slime must eat tires very slowly. I have some slimed tires that are ten years or older. Haven't eaten them yet.

                            I've also used Green Slime for years with no eating away of the tires. But, again, I always seem to be getting tires repaired that are green slimed.
                            I'll let you know if I have any issues with the red Multi Seal.

                              I think you'll have better luck with the multi seal. Slime does a decent job but isn't the best.
