What do our resident weather experts think of this forecast?

I was just reading a National Weather Service winter forecast. Based on a prediction of this being a La Nina year, they are calling for a dry and warmer than normal winter for Texas and the southwest. We have some guys around here that follow this stuff closely - what say you?

Good thread Jerp. I think the NOAA forcasters just amended the forecast because as of a month or two ago there was prediction for a wet and chilly winter like a couple of years ago that brought us alot of ice...a couple months prior it was predicted to be as you stated...warmer and drier. As I gathered from the report... La Nina and El Nino and subsequent weather patterns are based on the Pacific equatorial water circulation tunnel.

Yeah, I seem to remember a cold/wet winter forecast from a few months ago. I guess it all hinges on how much of a La Nina develops and they don't really know until it starts.

This is what the Almanac said in August.

I guess most of that timeline is for after hunting season though.

Based on acorns falling earlier than normal and the amount of them, I'm gonna say colder winter.

Phil sez the complete opposite of NWS outlook. I don't know who is doing more drugs. Flip a coin or wait 6 months to declare the winner

Ima guess it will be somewhere in the middle.

I think you are not giving the persimmon seed enough credit.
