    Arrow Question

Quick question, one of my buddies shoots carbon express mayhem 350s. He needs to buy some more, question is if it's worth the switch from mayhems to a little heavier and get the piledrivers. He is shooting a prodigy at 70 lbs and 28" draw

    Which one would y'all pick?

I have the piledrive ptx right now, imo I'd switch to a different brand such as Easton and go heavier. Fmjs are highly recommended.
The piledrives I have are extremely brittle on the ends, and the outsets are insanely weak. If I go through a target or pass through an animal the outsert always bends and usually splits the shaft. I can promise you I won't be shooting them again, that being said, I love their weight (gpi)

Your friend is already shooting enough power for dangerious game (cape buffalo/Grizzly) at 80.5-81.5lbs of force (depending on which online caluclator you believe) and .542 momentum. a rough guess on the length of the arrow and figured with a 11.3grains/in piledriver arrow he will be around 500 total grains. Which will slow the arrow a bit so you will have 82.5-83lbs of force, and .603 momentum. again able to hunt dangerious game. if he is shooting deer, or hogs i'm not sure it will matter. if he wants new arrows and wants to change it up, sure have at it. But i wouldn't expect a "huge" increase because he is already pretty high up in the "overall power" range.

            make sense?

Then why not get the regular piledrivers? They dont have the outserts. I shot through one hog and killed the one behind it and recovered both hogs and the arrow. The arrow is still in use and flys just as good as new. Its not a bad arrow at all in my experience.

And for the record, that was a Piledriver 350 30" long out of a 68# bow

Makes since to me. We kinda figured he wouldn't see much difference in performance other than slowing him down some and quieting his bow down. Even though his bow is already quiet

I just showed him this post and he is gonna just stick with the mayhems

                  Thanks for the help!
