    Tripod question...

I have got a line on a tripod like this one. However it is a little tall for my hunting grounds. Has anyone/ can you easily put up this tripod and just remove the bottom section of the legs?

I was thinking that I could do this and just adjust the support straps to the top section of legs.

    Thoughts?

I have some like that and think it would be a pain to do that. Might be easier just to dig 3 ft holes at the feet and set them in it to lower it 3ft. This way your tripod stays in tack. I know that's not a very good idea but it would work. I really think you would be better off just getting one that is the right size to begin with. These type of tripods are also a pain to move and setup. I know they are a lot more expensive but I would recommend a woodsey too because they are so much easier to move and setup. They also are adjustable in height and don't have any cross braces and no tools needed to setup or take down.

I don't know where the connections are on this tripod, but I'm pretty sure you could use a grinder and cut off wheel and shorten it very quickly and easily.

i would ask how great of a deal is it you are getting? and How "tall" is it for you. Do you need it 2' shorter, i might cut it down a bit, but if you need it 6' shorter we are talking hacking 1/2 of it off, which goes back to my first question.

          hope that helps.
