    Rut- Victoria, TX area??

Anybody know when it is supposed to start?

I thought I saw some evidence of it about week ago. (some young bucks were killed on the highway in town). That was after that little cool spell we had. Plus saw a little activity in Lavaca County. But really hadn't seen much evidence since. I am thinking this norther we are supposed to get today may kick things in gear.

Usually, south of Victoria, it's kicking up about now. Tpwd has a county by county breakdown of historic rut dates based on doe fetus age when one is taken and the fetus is developed.

Generally starts around this time and will see signs up until general season.

Our on lease we tend to see the most activity around Halloween time.

It normally starts the last week of October plus or minus a week depending on weather, rainfall totals and whatever else mother nature throws our way.

I'm hoping this cool front gets them going this weekend while I'm there!

Depends on what part of the county your in. My lease down by Bloomington starts around the end of September and really kicks in opening week. At my house just north of 59 by by colleto creek it's just about ready to start and really kicks in around Halloween. I have yet to see the bucks at my house have any interest yet and I have 20+ deer at my house eating hand corn every morning and evening so I know it hasn't started yet. The funny thing about this area is that once the rut starts it never seams to completely stop. I have seen bucks breed does all the way into Jan. at both my house and lease. This is also why we see fawns being born 3 months apart every year. I'll bet this cold front coming through today will get the young bucks to start chasing.

Been seeing signs of it getting ready for sure over last week. Young bucks running around in open during all times of day. Haven't quite seen where does looked receptive but I bet some of the early does are any day now.

I personally think it's going to blow up this weekend in Lavaca and surrounding counties.

Last year outside of McFaddin I saw bucks chasing does along the highway the weekend after thanksgiving..... I guess it was their second rut. It was a cold and wet weekend

Lots of bucks dead on the highways everywhere around Victoria, Jackson, Lavaca, calhoun, and Goliad counties I drive all of them a lot. I have seen a lot of bucks tending does as well.
