Went to Wimberley for an AM & PM hunt--winds were wrong but I sat the lower stand this morning anyway. Had a doe headed in from the 10 o'clock position, but when she hit my scent stream she did an about face and left. Had a grey fox pair come in--one under the feeder and the other on one of the hand-corn piles. Fun watching them and beautiful coloration--but, my camera was in the truck.
The evening hunt was a bit different--winds were right for the upper stand although it was uncomfortably hot--with the sun rignt in my face until about 6:10. Feeder spun at 6 and about 2 minutes later I heard a squirrel start barking out past the feeder, so I got ready, thinking it could be a deer--nope, another grey fox. Watched him eat corn, catch grasshoppers, etc. and then heard the deer coming from behind me--ended up with a small doe and twins plus a young (1.5 y.o.) 5-pt in front of me for about 30 minutes. I didn't shoot as they were just too small--
Here's my highlight--remembered my camera.
