Got a question for the GS on ammo for 7mm-08

Some month's back I asked y'alls opinion on what rifle to get my wife. We decided on going with 7mm-08. Now I need help deciding what ammo to go with. She will be hunting whitetails mainly. Thank you.

That's going to be shooter! The thread linked will help you.

Where are you located? I have multiple factory 7-08 loading that I could spare a few from for you to test

Are reloads an option? I can give you what works in my APR 7mm08.

This. I'd look at the Hornady line they make very high quality factory ammo.

I don't reload. I have never done it before or have the equipment. It maybe something in the future.

Mine shoots Ballistic Silvertips well, but I would at least try Federal Fusion if I were you. That ammo has been a good killer with minimal meat destruction for me.

What twist? Honestly, I'm sure its a 1-9 or so twist, should shoot most any ammo great. The 7mm08 is inherently accurate and should be a fine shooter.

I reload 7mm-08 for my daughter.

H4895 over a Nosler 120gn Hunting Ballistic Tip bullet. Extremely low recoil, and drops 'em dead.

She's wanting to step up, and shoot with us on the tower out to 500, so I'm going to develop a load with H4895 over a Berger 140gn Hunting bullet (and a bit more powder) after deer season is over.

As for factory ammo, there are a TON of great options. I don't know what to suggest, other than choose the bullet weight you want, and then start sourcing everything you can find and see how it does.

My 7mm-08 loves Barnes vor tx 120 grain ammo. It will print cloverleafs at 100 yards. Excellent performance on game too.

Great minds think alike. The 120 grain Nosler Ballistic tip and the 140 grain Berger hunting bullet are the two bullets I choose. They are very accurate in my APR 7mm08.
