Vortex Talon 10x42 Binoculars For $279.99 On Cabela's? Worth the price?

Hi Everybody,

I stumbled upon the Vortex Talon model binoculars on Cabela's website for $279.99 marked down from $479.99. Seems like a heck of a deal - and from what I can tell no other retailers have them anywhere close to this price. This price is only on the 10x42 model.

I am not familiar with the Talon model. Am I missing something with these? Are they being marked down because there is something wrong with them, etc? The reviews on them look great (like most other Vortex optics).

I see a deal this good - I am usually the type to jump on it; but before I do I would love thoughts on this price and the Talon 10x42 model if any of you have experience with them.

I have the 8x32 and love them. Perfect for bow hunting. Great price on the 10x42. Do it!

Other than where they are made they are good optics for the price.

If there's something wrong vortex has a VIP warranty where you can send them in and get them repaired for free.

I actually liked the Talon better than the Viper when I compared them side by side. For $279 I would have no problems buying them. I almost bought them for $479, but then looked through Razor HD's and ended up picking up used Maven B.2's when I couldn't find used Razors. I got spoiled looking through a friends Swaro's in Colorado and had to get new binoculars after that experience.

Absolutely !!! Unbelievable price. That is wayyy below dealer cost. Cabelas must have made a big discounted purchase. I am not sure how they got around MAP (manufacturer advertised pricing). I have not received notice that Vortex has discontinued the Talon HD 10x42 and 8x42. Normally when you see them this discounted they have been discontinued. No matter....that is great deal. I would buy them in a second.
