    Input please on possible lease

Anyone hunt around Comstock Texas. Was looking into a lease that's 6000 acres for 3000/ gun. Not familiar with that area at all and wanted to know what someone thought that hunts that area. Thanks

very isolated, take lots of water and ice.
lot of deer when i hunted out there and lots of indian artifacts
upper end deer in the 130's-150's
occasional deer die offs due to anthrax
          lots of illegals
          beautiful rugged country

Well I was hoping deer would be better than 130 average.... that's a long ways to drive and invest for me actually. If it were closer it would be more intriguing... dang

We hunted 1 year that direction. Rough, rough...and rough country. It was a cool experience in some aspects, but the deer were just not what we were hoping for.

I hunted on a place that backed up to the Pecos river. One of the prettiest places I've seen in America, but the deer quality wasn't that great. Short tines plagued the ranch. I even boiled a skull once, and the antlers (nice buck for the area) just crumbled like chalk in my hands, due to mineral deficiency. Make sure there is water, no livestock to compete for what little food available, and a good nutrition program implemented by the lease for 3k.

I'm a new lease out there. There was a 151 killed on our place last year. I have a 11 at my feeder that would be high 140's. Most of ours or younger deer. I'm coming from east Texas paper company club so I'm having trouble with sitting in a pop up trying to watch 11-12 bucks at one time. I still can't get over them standing under the feeder waiting on it to go off, even this year with knee high grass. So far I love it out there. We do have water (windmills). And apparently the illegals have began to use it in the last 2 weeks, but so far no problems out of them.

Not going to be "better than 130 average" but you will find a lot of mature bucks
In the 115-125 range...rarely you will find a 140-145 or 150s...rough,low brush, but a good population. We hunted many years out that way but finally moved south.
