So what to do about a missing head????

Here's the deal.....my "friend"...yeah that's it went hunting this weekend.
His son killed a cull. The animal was tagged, brought back to camp, and cleaned. The head, tag attached was left at the cleaning station. After coming back from the next morning's hunt the head was nowhere to be found.
We found one solitair cat track. Luckily he stepped where we dumped the ashes from the pit as the dirt around was covered with leaves/pine needles.
Not so concerned about the track although it was kinda cool. What I am concerned with is what does "he" do with the meat in the icechest. "He" definitely needs it processed so what is the proper thing to do in this predicament??? "He" appreciates your help in this matter

    "He" processes it himself.

Couldn't "He" just use another tag? Hopefully "he" has one of the legs?

Call the game warden and "explain" about your "friend's" situation.

Process at home.... granted it is rather unfortunate that it happened but if its in a multiple buck county he will need to tag the deer again if he does not want to take the chance of getting a ticket by a warden in a chance encounter...

I had the same thing happen about 2 years ago. We found the head about 150 yards from camp

This would be the best thing for your 'friend' to do.

I believe that "he" would need that tag on proof of sex. "he" might want to look into the price of a good grinder.

Depending on the age of the son, most likely there were some pics taken. Call the game warden, explain what happened and show him the pics to back up the story.

Yes, and call the IRS and volunteer for an audit while you're at it. Seriously, the last thing I would want to do is call attention to myself. Processing at home is easy.
