Got up early this am, the plan was to go slaughter pigs at granger..well didnt happen got my bow out with 8 shafts and started shooting into my block for a quick practice session . The first 8 went fine, i went to retrieve them to shoot again, shot 2 then on the 3rd one right as i was drawing back, my d loop gave and new shaft went into the dirt..honestly thought i derailed my bow the way it felt.looked to make sure i hade fingers and bow intact which i did..then seen the d loop split in the middle.to this day i never questioned it, no frays no loose strands just one and done..good news is i bought some paracord and fixed up a new d loop....at least it happened while practicing and not on a hunt. Always check your gear fellas

also, after you make a new one and its just right, take it off the bow, measure it and record that somewhere. i have a mark on my archery bench. and get a measurement from the top of the limb, center of axle, some hard point to the top of the inside of the loop, write that down also. keep those close at hand, or together in your backpack, with a small tape measure. i keep one of those seam tape measures on hand in my field bag. and btw.......ill be replacing mine tonight since you reminded me!

I replaced mine this week with some cord I had on my archery bench, but I'm not sure where it came from or what its true purpose in life was before it found my bench.
It burned into a ball properly, I'm just not too trusting of it yet.
