    Feeder blowing fuses

I noticed my feeder was blowing fuses. I first thought it was the timer but after the second one stopped working I discovered blown fuses in both timers. Anyone know what can cause this? I tried to rearrange everything in the motor housing so that nothing would hit the battery leads in case it was shorting out, but I'm stumped on this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you check all the wires and none of them are shorting out, it could be something as simple as your motor going bad and overloading them as well.

It is an older unit, and I was thinking about replacing it anyway. Anyone have any suggestions on reliable motor kits? I've heard/read good things about The Timer.

If you have a solar panel, check the wiring there.

Check the Amp draw of the motor to see if it is pulling higher than FLA. If so replace it, if not, start looking elsewhere. A good multi-meter will be needed.

Thanks for the input guys. Hopefully I can get out there this weekend and diagnose/fix the issue.

Motor probably pulling too many amps because it is wore out.

Had same issue here a few weeks ago, raised the amp on fuse to 8 amps and been working fine since.

                          God Bless

Have switched all 9 feeders on the farm to The Timer based controllers. Highly recommend.👍

All ours are Ultramatic's or Advantage Outdoors.
