I had the idea in college in a business class, but never followed through with it outside of the project I was working on. I wanted to take a GPS that came with these little stickers that you could put on cell phones, keys, dog collars, etc. Then you could track these items from a single GPS unit that was programmed for just these dots. I am sure that somebody has done this idea by now.

This is interesting:
Read about a lady that had her stuff stolen at a restaurant after leaving it there. She returned and the place couldn't locate it. A few hours later, her photos began appearing on her online photo sharing site thanks to her wireless SD card. Pics of the head waiter with his "new" camera gear were included. She got the stuff back. Seems the card will automatically upload your photos once it hits a wifi spot. The story:
New software and other technology help you track lost gadgets like cell phones, cameras and laptops.
