    Shooting in low light conditions

Last wknd I missed on a shot at a hog and it kinda bothered me that I missed the opportunity. It was somewhat dark and even though I could clearly see the hog, the target kinda disappeared when I focused through my peep. Does anyone have any suggestions to help this? Thx!

Lose the Peep. If you have consistent shooting form, you don't need the peep. If you do night time hunting or lot of late evening hunting, especially for hogs (which are mostly black), a peep sight is a real problem.

This makes sense to me - i'm pretty consistent and didn't think to consider that the peep is the issue (I was blaming my eyes . Thx!

Either lose the peep, or just know you will lose 10-15 minutes of shooting light.

glow peeps work for me. Jus need to make sure your charge them with flashlight before heading out.

I think maybe a lesson to help with form might be a good thing to look into. Also, practice at home, at night, to get used to shooting in low light conditions. Just because you're awesome during the day doesn't mean you're automatically awesome at night.

I hunt at night a ton, and have never had a problem being able to find my peep. When I come to anchor, it is just "there".

There was a learning curve with dimming my sight light so it did not wash out the sight picture.

I use an EWT XLR100 for a light, and the Spot Hogg rheostat sight light. No issues.

I've shot thousands of arrows at night, and still occasionally find things to fine tune.

Glow peep will not help you see better in low light. It will only help you see your peep in low light. As was suggested, either get a light and/or loose your peep. My eyes are not near as good as the used to be and removing my peep helped big time. I haven't used a peep in about 4 years and don't miss it.

I shoot both eyes open and use a 5/16" peep. I just use it as a double check at night. Groups definitely open up at night but still minute of hog.

Very interesting. I been bowhunting a very long time and never even considered shooting without one. Now I got to try that. I dont ever shoot at night though so is there any advantage of shedding the peep for dawn to dusk hunting?

It all depends on the person.

Try it out, see how it works out for you.

I love my peep, and can't imagine not having one, but have known quite a few guys that used something like a kisser button as an anchor device.

You might also try a ΒΌ" opening peep.
