I'm thinking about going on a long road trip and thought it would be cool to drive across the country in a large RV, anything anyone came tell me?

There are many places that rent R.V.'s. I live north of Dallas and there are several there who rent. Not sure of prices but would probably be on the high side for a cross country trip in a large RV. Driving the ALCAN highway from Seattle to Anchorage is on my bucket list but no way I would drive my motorhome from Texas to Alaska. I found you can do this trip either one way or round trip. You can rent in Seattle and drop it off in Anchorage or vice versa or you can do a round trip deal. I cannot recall the name of the company but they have very nice cabover campers on 1 ton pickups or either Class C motorhomes. That particular company charges about $350.00 per day. I feel sure there are probably similar deals to be found in the lower 48.

If you are thinking about a motorhome, here's some food for thought:
It's nice to stay more than one night when you reach a destination. There's quite a bit of effort to set up the RV for an overnight stay...leveling, septic and power hook up, canopy, lawn chairs, etc. It gets old setting up your "camp" after a long drive and then tearing down the next morning to stay on the schedule your wife dreamed up.
If possible, take along a moped, scooter, or Honda Ruckus if possible. Once your RV is set up, it's nice to be able to run to the corner store. At a minimum, take along a bicycle.
Yeti's or RTIC's are great for keeping adequate inventories of beer, ice, beer, food, beer, wine, and beer.
Don't forget your peace-maker...
If you are considering a travel trailer or fifth wheel, everything still applies except the moped.

You could always sell it when done.

I rented one some 20 yrs ago or so and loved it. We took two weeks off and gave ourselves a week to get to Orlando, Fl. No reservations, just took off. It was one of the best 2 weeks of my life!
We actually just purchased a bumper pull RV yesterday so we can get back into traveling on our own terms whenever we want and for as long as we want.
Enjoy! ~Michael
