Finally able to put a coyote down with the new AR15 feels good to hear the thwack after pulling the trigger. This one hung out at 140 yards. It was my only shot of the day. One coyote called in one taken.
Next we were able to blow a stand when our apprentice misread a coyote and took a long (80 yd) shotgun shot. The coyote would have come in much closer plus there was another coyote working its way in just over the hill. Lessons we all had to learn. He made up for it later.
Two coyotes called in zero taken.
On the next stand I got the elevated position. About 3 minutes into the stand I could see my calling partner adjusting his rifle just below my location. We waited another 4 minutes for the coyote to pop up on a small hill. The coyote fell dead right there. This female had a really nice belly. Lots of white plus she had a white tip. The shot was just over 80 yards.
Clair with the coyote:
The next stand Keven and I were watching one side and Clair was covering the backside. Keven and I spotted a coyote coming our way. I turned the caller on a really low volume when the coyote got close I lipped squeaked and Keven let loose with the 12 gauge for his second kill. Good job Keven.
We made four more stands and did not call any coyotes. Eight total stands made. Five coyotes called and three killed.
Ended up with three total:
Found a windmill to pull some hides.
The two hides we saved.
