This is what he looked like last year. He was easy to spot due to one horn being longer than the other.. He was two years old last year.. He is part of a set of twins him and his sister stuck pretty close together last year and the year before. I have pics of him with another doe that has a fawn from this year that I believe to be his sister....

And why exactly is that..??? It amazes me how many people are able to tell that one deer on a deer lease I have been on and running cameras for four years is not the deer that I say it is... would it help to know that the mother of this buck typically throws twins every year and that his sister "the other part of the twin" has been seen in a few pics with him earlier in the season both on our place and the neighbors place just like they have been for the last 3 years...

Only examples of spikes turning into huge bucks are accepted here. And only those guys know it's the same deer from year to year.
Remember.
1. Don't shoot spikes because they become big bucks
2. Don't shoot the big bucks under 7 years old so they can grow and breed more
3. Don't shoot baby deer
4. Don't shoot deer with fawns
Yes, I know. You're stuck looking for that oddball doe that I assume was too ugly to mate.

I find it commical how people run thier mouths....it's his place...he runs the cameras and watches the deer intimately ...knows them better than anyone else and probably has most named .. then a yahoo pops off saying it's not the same deer.
There is more to management than pulling a trigger....lots of people actually study thier deer year after year and know thier facial features and thier habits..we know our deer very well and we get the same thing...it's not the same deer...it always makes me laugh and tells me alot about the person making the comment.

One person asked how he knows it's the same deer. I have the same question since I have never been in that situation of tracking deer from year to year. Maybe it was an innocent question? What traits do you use to identify a deer from year to year?

He was a spike last year as seen in the second pic. His left horn was about 10 inches long and his right horn was 12 inches long. The second pic is not that great but, the only one I had at quick disposal. He was on the hit list last year big time. I saw him in person last year but, never could get a shot on during bow season and he up and disappeared during rifle season. To be honest I was hoping he had been shot.
As far as keeping up with my deer and how I know which is which my home screen on my computer is full of different folders showing different stands and different years.
