    Mid Day Buck Question

I'm just curious as to how many people have actually killed a buck mid day. I'm talking between the hours of 11:00AM-2:00PM or so. There have been times I have sat until 1:00PM or so from the morning hunt, and at times I have seen deer moving around the noon time "The Noon Day Stroll" as they call it, but I have always seen does and never seen a buck in that time frame.

So how many of you have actually killed your target buck or any buck between the hours of 11:00AM and 2:00PM?

I remember my dad shot a buck at 1 or so. He didn't like the football game we were watching at camp so at 12 or so he went to sit in his deer stand to enjoy lunch and tv by himself. (yes he has an antenna on his stand and a portable TV that he would carry to and from the stand when it would need charging) I remember hearing the shot and thinking he was just messing with us, but he had shot a pretty nice 8 point.

I have killed several bucks between 10 am and 3 pm, including the buck in my avatar. However none of them have been at a feeder. I was either hunting a hand corn travel corridor or was rattling.

My dad was at the lease by himself. With no one else in camp, he decided to sit till noon. shortly after 11am a ranch record 13 point that scored 160 walked out. Never seen that buck before. Wasnt able to get a shot that day, but a couple days later he gave him another opportunity at 2:45 in the afternoon.

My top three bucks have all been killed between 11am - 1pm but not over a feeder. My avatar buck was also killed mid day. I'm a firm believer in the mid day sit.

I made this thread to convince me to get my butt out there mid day! I think it's working... lol.

I just haven't ever had much luck mid day when it comes to bucks, but I also haven't hunted East Texas much and I feel like getting out mid day on some stands sitting over trails in the thicket would be a good idea. I predict a boring hunt, but possibly catching one of these vampires moving mid day.

I will hunt Midday if the conditions are right for me ( Deer probably don't care but I do) . And that is it has to be cold or Drizzly or "huntin weather" Also if the deer didn't move that morning than mid day is warranted. During the peak of the rut mid day is very good. I love to hunt over food plots during the day. Especially if it is cold. Take a book and read.

During a full moon, 11:00-1:00 are probably the best times to hunt. I shot one of my biggest deer ever at 11:30 in the morning.

Guess the theory is, during full moon deer are very active throughout the night, lay up during the early morning and get up to feed again around mid day.

shot my second biggest east tx buck at 12:45 pm. my moms car broke down so i had to delay my hunting schedule to the spot in shnf and take my mother to work. This was peak rut so i knew if i could slip in unnoticed id be good. Got to my tree climbed up and was settled in by 11:20 i did a little grunting because i had seen antlers through the bruch....he turned came straight in at 22 yards. He was harvested in rifle season so i was super proud of him. his pic is my profile.
