Jumped in my stand after work yesterday hoping for a doe to make a mistake. Was a real slow evening and I was just passing the time as it got dark.
In starts a boar that is super leery of coming in. He finally gives me a shot on the way to the feeder right at dark, I turned on my Tru-Glow site and this made it even harder to see. I lined up a center punch shot the best I could but he moved as I released and took his rear end out (spine). I get down to track him to put him down aaaand I forgot my sidearm.... Crap.... So I head back to the truck to get it and come back.
I get back to my truck and not 40 yds from my truck there are a group of pigs working the cows feeding area and do not see me walking up at all. I am now in an open field and the light is better. This time I don't turn on my tru-glow and line up and center punch shot as it is hard to make detail out at this point. Whack, I hammer this sow with my grim reaper, center punching her. She makes it about 60 yds and piles up.
I jump in the truck and head back to the boar scene to try and find and finish him off, I find him about 50 yds from the feeder in some thick brush. Couple hollow points to the head finish the job. So glad I was able to locate him and put him down. He is too large for my liking to clean, but I did clean the sow and she is on ice.
Two more rooters down!!
Here is the arrow that got spine and the boar +/- 150lbs
