    Any TBH Duck Hunters?

I am very interested (especially after talkin to a customer @ Sportsmans this evening) of goin duck hunting .. but I've never been, don't really know where to go ('cept Granger), & don't have the slightest clue about huntin them. So I thought I'd find out if the fine folks on TBH could offer suggestions, or even better, guide service referals.

It sounds like a blast and its one of my "To Do's" by next yr.

Any advice &/or suggestions would be immensely appreciated ...

So you wanna go duck hunt-n, hu ?

Seriously, it is a blast! And there are many ways to do it. Most are classic. Calling is not as improtant as how ya set your spread. And it is great to see a plan come togeather and call the spot right where the birds are gonna sit. Then there is watching them work the deeques. And the dog work to follow when ya fold one up. Breakfast can be cooked while you hunt, coffee sipped, and jokes-n-stories told.

Nice thing about duck hunting is you can take the kids , camo them out put a hat and shades on them and they don't have to be still or quite really.Took my 8 year old girl and my 12 year old boy lives for it. My best luck has been on ponds within about a mile of the Trinity river. Going to try some lake hunting later this season though. Just remember to have fun with itand don't look up at them.

its a terrible idea its cold, wet, cold, and wet, and you have to take a dump off the back of your truck in a 30 mph wind and you dont have anything to wipe with....sorry lots of built up resentment. no realy though if you want to do it i hope you have a great time i just dont do cold very well so i put away the shot gun between dove and pheasent. best of luck to you

Duck hunting is absolutely a BLAST!!
My lab and I go every chance we get up here in Co and cant enough of it!
Friday morning a hunting partner and I had 14 birds on the water within 20 minutes of shooting light (western colorado is in the Pacific flyway and we get 7 birds each).

If you like unloading the loud way and enjoy the challenge of constantly trying to predict wind, weather, and flight patterns, duck hunting CANT be beat!

Duck hunting is classified as an addiction. Be careful.

I love duck hunting.. went yesterday morning and we got a 5 man limit.. sometimes the weather conditions get you questioning yourself on why your diong it but then again I have frozen a couple times in the bow blind and yet I still go out there again the next time

that must make bowhunting an incurable chronic illness

I just talked to a buddy in the Houston area ... he sent me a text this mornin for a guided hunt (deeks, dogs, blinds) for a very reasonable price. Think I'm gonna book.
When's the best time to hunt? Now? In a few wks?

I just became a member of DU and have only duck hunted a few times in Mad. bay. Would like to do more though!

I started duck hunting 2-3 years ago and I love it just as much as bowhunting. My friend Lance Stancik owns Backwater Retreivers and Waterfowl and he took me on my first goose hunt a few weeks ago and went a second time saturday morning. Both times I went we hammered the geese and ducks. It was AWESOME!

If you want to see birds and get plenty of shooting in give this guy a call.

There is nothing like the sound (Woooosh) of a nice size flock coming over your head. It is really neat when it is still to dark to see them, but you can hear them circling. It'll make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Duck hunting is a blast. Try it for sure.
