Looking for recommendations on a low poundage bow in the 50-55 range with decent speed. I screwed up my shoulder a while back and looking at my options. What do you think.

I used to have a couple Elites that were in that range and they were pretty quick. A lot of the speed bows with 6" brace heights will give you plenty of zip at low poundage. However, I am a believer that speed just means a fast miss. I have a Drenalin set at 58 lbs and its probably not over 260 fps but it kills. Had several deer and pigs not know what hit them and had clean pass throughs. Just my advice

Well if you are having Shoulder issues I would also recommed getting a lighter weight bow. So look at the carbon bows. Bowtech has an overdrive that is really fast. Hoyt of course has several bows that are carbon. I should the Carbon element g3 and it spits them out pretty fast. Pulling 59 lbs right now. Having a bad should should be helped with lighter poundage as well as lighter weight bow..

It will be hard to beat the APA King Cobra TF with a 370+ IBO and 5" brace height for pure speed at lower poundage. A 5" brace height is a little harder to shoot , but it can be learned easily enough. But for decent speed you will need to be sub 6" brace height on any bow and the King Cobra reigns supreme in this respect.
You get a lot of bow with APA.

Don't know where you live, but if you are going to spend your hard earned money, get to a bow shop that carries ALL of the major brands and shoot everyone of them. Take your hunting arrows to the shop. Have them set up EVERY bow to your draw length and poundage that your can comfortably pull. Then, the bows that you like, have them chrono them at your set up with your hunting arrows. At this point when you spend $1,000, you will know from your own personal knowledge which bow your should be shooting. I did this exact thing at Cinnamon Creek 2 years ago. Shot 8 or 9 bows before I made MY decision. BTW, whatever you do, do not go into this process with a predetermined maker in mind. Shoot every bow as though you have no idea who the maker is. Be the bow!
