    Bosque Update?

Anyone hunt Bosque in the last few days? I am trying to decide if I want to get up at 3:00am and drive out there for the morning hunt. Bucks should be in pre-rut I would think. Since they broke up from their bachelor groups (late october) I havent seen a buck over 1 1/2

It's been slow with the wind and full moon....at least for me.....plus I'm sick and having trouble being "bow quiet"....rut activity has been happening so I think I'm gonna take my sick self to the rifle stand in the am. Call if you need help finding one.

so far I've seen 3 young bucks and one middle age buck, quite a few does too. I don't see a lot of fitting activity but the middle age buck was on a mission when he came in. Had a fork horn come into horns also. Heard more shots this am then opening weekend. Gonna soy as long as I can.

LOL just read my iPhone post. I meant not a lot of rut activity at my place. Tonight I saw 3 of the bucks I saw this morning and that was it. I am having doubts the double main beam buck I was after is still around.

I think the peak of the rut has ended here!

It's hard to tell. If the rut is over it was the most pitifull excuse of a rut I've ever seen. I never saw one buck chasing or even near any does. They are moving at night from game cams. I have had a number of does out with no bucks in sight..

I am with you Erik. I haven't even got a trailcam of a buck that looked to be rutting.

BrokenG's, what makes you think that? That would mean it peaked 2 weeks earlier than normal years (in my area at least). I don't live close by so I miss a lot of action.

Talked with a buddy that's a GW, and he said still pre-rut around hill and bosque.

The action has picked up on the prairie east of Clifton. I'm seeing bucks moving at all times. It will just get better once some of the does have been serviced. Then, the big boys come out to play! Good responses to grunt and rattle last weekend. Six different bucks. I need Doc to help me with some scouting, but he coughs all the dang time.

I agree from what I saw monday the 17th was the peak, later than it was last year. The rut was largely nocturnal this year.

I would say close to peak right now, saw some little bucks chasing Tuesday and a couple of new bucks roaming, headed back tomorrow. This weekend should be it. Stay as late as possible most of the movement I saw was after 10 am. Good Luck to all ..
