Lazarus Pig
Feeder goes off at 6:15. At 6:25, I notice a big blob near my feeder. I raise my trusty .270 to take a look. 120 lb piggy. I shoot at the neck shoulder area, pig drops. Yay! I go get my truck and go to feeder, but pig is NOT THERE! I follow the blood and bone fragment trail 30 yards into the THICK that goes into my neighbors place! Dang it! Guess I should have shot that thing twice!

I actually had that happen with an archery deer years ago.
Fell about 60 yards from where I shot it, in plain sight. Never moved. Got down at dark (about 45 minutes later) and the darn thing was GONE. The weirdest things happen while hunting.Comment

Aim for just below the ear and they won't get back up. You probably hit a bunch of fat in the neck...........I have had that same thing happen before on a porker........Comment

I shot one like that one time, pig fell over quivering, legs stiff and sticking straight out. I put another round in the chamber and tried to get a shot at another one. Looked back and the first one was up staggering and stumbling headed for the woods. Never found a drop of blood.
I would put a second shot to the head for insurance.Comment

hit one about 80lbs with an ought 6 in the neck. squealed, kicked, blood going everywhere. he kinda spasmed and lay still. i called my bro and told him hey i got a pig and about that time i look up and he runs by me heading for the woods all bloody but no worse for the wear. whooda thunk it?Comment
