I don't think I've ever killed on opening weekend in the past. I guess I've always procrastinated to save my tags for the end of the season for something bigger and most of the time, ended the season with the tag still unused. This year I have several nice bucks that really caught my eye. But usually here, these bucks that I've been watching seem to just disappear right before season. It's either because of acorns, or the bachelor groups break up to chase ladies, or what I really think, is the bucks read the TP&W hunting manual and get the heck out of dodge right before season. Lol
Opening morning hunt was ruined by some snorting does that ran everything off within a mile [emoji35]
The evening hunt was a great experience on the other hand. About 15 mins after feeder goes off, I look to my left to see one of the target bucks headed in. I whisper to my girlfriend that some big horns are coming and I hand her my phone to video. 19 yrd quartered away shot went right where it was supposed to. He ran 50 yrds into the empty field and just stopped there and stood for what seemed like 10 mins (was actually probably 2 lol). By this time my girlfriend was freaking out because she doesn't care for the suffering part. I assure her he's hit good and just let him lay down before pushing him into the thick brush. He finally lays down and after 15 more mins, it was picture time [emoji4]
I'll see if the video will post. If it does, the video after the shot is pretty worthless because you can't see much and she was following the wrong deer on the after shot footage. But oh well, at least she got the shot in [emoji1303]
