Ditto. Well, I don't think I have cleaned 50 animals with any one stic, but use a couple skinners frequently and mine hold a good edge and are easy to sharpen.

I've had a few knives that were hard to sharpen on my Sharpmaker and it normally works great. If they are, I always put them on the coarse side of a diamond stone and rebevel the edge and make it a little thinner. It takes time, but you can do it.
What kind of sharpener are you using? Lansky makes a bunch of different types. It sounds like your angle is off. On custom knives it's mostly by hand so you may need to adjust your sharpening angle to that particular knife.

Yes. Same one. Cleaned a turkey in spring and it got dull again. Love the shape and feel of knife but having a hard time keeping it sharp.
