What is this turtle?

My dad found this in the middle of his rock road this evening. Said it weighs between 50-75#. What type of turtle is it? It's in an old dog pen I built from cattle panels right now. Trying to decide if we should contact someone or keep it as a pet...

A vet that's a good friend said it's an African pet turtle. So he is going to ask around and see if anyone's missing one. If not he's keeping it in my old husky's, Max, pen and naming it after him lol. My dad cracks me up daily!

Only 6 houses around that it could have come from, we know them all and are checking to see if anyone is missing it.
