    Wireless game cam questions...

I didn't wanna hijack the other thread so I started this one.

My lease is between Dryden and Sheffield. This is a very remote area and cell service is spotty. Cell service is fair up on top of the mountain where my stand is. Camp is in the bottom of a canyon and there is not cell service at all.

I'm considering a wireless game cam and maybe those who have them can answer my questions.

    1. How good does the cell service have to be? I can get 3, maybe 4 bars on my phone at times and I have AT&T.
    2. What is the battery life for these cameras? Will it constantly searching for a signal run the battery down quickly? I can connect it to solar if necessary.
    3. How much does it add to your cell phone bill?
    4. Camera brands. What kind are you using?

    Thanks for the help.

1- I have a HCO Spartan running on AT&T with 2 bars of service and it works great.

2- Battery life isn't very good which is why most people add external batteries/solar panels

3- It's $25 for 3 months of service through AT&T on it's own plan. I'm not sure if you add it to an existing plan.

4- I have a Covert and 2 HCO Spartans. The HCO is a no-brainer from now on. The quality of the pictures I can receive on the HCO makes me not even like the Covert now.

I get 2-3 bars on my AT&T phone at my hunting location but my HCO Spartan Gocam gets a full signal. You will want to use Energizer Ultimate lithium batteries for extended battery life but they are expensive. Solar panel is a better option and cheaper in the long run. HCO is a 6V system. As BowSlayer mentioned $25 for three months AT&T plus an additional $4 per month if you want the premium service from HCO. Worth it IMO. This will allow you to remotely change camera settings and your pics will be stored on their server to view any time via app or website as well as receiving pics by text or email. Tried the Bushnell Aggressor wireless and the signal and pic quality don't compare to the HCO.

I only have coverts at the time, but may try the Spartan. I have been using them for 5-6 years and tried several solar setups. On the old non-3G models a feeder battery and charger worked fine. Since going to 3G I had battery issues until I found my most recent setup. Simply a 6v golf cart battery from SAMs. There about $100 and I have had one one the field for a year, no solar and battery level still on "9".
