My hound has been in the puppy hospital since last Sunday. He ate some feminine products on Friday, he's done this before and threw them up the next day, not this time. By Sunday he wouldn't eat or even get up off the couch so we called the vet and made an emergency visit. The X-ray showed a blockage in his stomach so they started him on fluid therapy in hopes that he would pass it. 2 days later it was still there so they surgically removed it, only one problem, there was 2 of them connected by the strings 1 in his stomach and 1 in his small intestine, the string between them rubbed holes in his intestine so they removed a small section of intestine and rinsed out his abdominal cavity with an antibacterial wash and sewed him up. They kept him there to watch him and he started eating and running around, the vet told us we could take him home on Friday. Friday morning the vet called and said he wasn't doing too good, that there was probably still bacteria in his abdomen and he was going to open him back up, check the stitches on his intestine and rinse his abdominal cavity a few more times with an antibiotic rinse. His stitches were fine so he thinks it was just some bacteria that was missed the first time. As of right now he is on antibiotics and seems to be doing ok but he is still running a fever. The vet says if everything goes as planned he should be coming home on Monday.
