I just purchased the Sony 30gig hard drive last week. I think its around $360 at Walmart. 40x zoom and night shot. Its pretty small and has a touch screen. I really like the sony products. I'll be filming my hunt next weekend.

i bought a sony handicam hybird just for recording hunts...its a great video cam, but the normal pics suck. all fuzzy. but it zooms in ALOT. 2000X zoom. battery life is good. and the mini dvds are cool. i paid 450 for it i think.

                  Brian---go online to www.videomaker.com
check out the articles on camcorder comparisons which are listed by mfgr., model, cost.
In my professional opinion I'll list what to stay AWAY from: minidisc, digital zoom, hard drive as a last resort.
Stay with: mini dv tape, memory sticks, manual controls if possible.
Hunting at LBJ is different without you! Stay warm!

got a brand new sony hard drive.. 40 gig 40x optical zoom from ebay for around 250 or so right before bow season.. used it to film my hunt and it worked perfect.. touch screen and easy to use without knowing much of anything about technology

I would save my money and get a little more high end camera.
