    elk taxidermy (Rug or blanket)

if I ever do kill a bull I will likely only be able to do a euro mount which is fine, but I got to thinking a big, soft, thick rug/blanket from the hide would be a neat way to remember the hunt as well. Any ideas on where to get that done? How to do it? And what kind of cost am I looking at?

Every elk hide/rug I have bought, traded, had done has shed a lot! Even treated with a certain chemical they still shed.

They are very pretty. I have seen some hanging on the walls in side log cabins.

Elk skins/hair are not durable. What some think is shedding is actually the hair breaking.
Their hair is actually hollow. Tubular. It breaks easily. All deer are this way except for the axis deer.

You could always go tanned with hair off - in other words, buckskin. There are several color options.

Think I paid $400 to get an elk hide tanned in 2007.
