what thumb release should I try?

whats a good thumb release for me to try? I know carter seems to be a good brand. I have always shot scott release . Never a thumb though . I am wanting to try a different style with a new bow. Trying to figure out which one I should invest in. Thanks for any feedback guys

I am pinching my pennies to save up for a Spot Hogg Whipper Snapper. It is the only thumb release I have ever played with. It is affordable and everything they make is built well.

I've only shot a scott exxus which I like, but one thing I can tell you is to get one that will clip onto the string instead of one with a hook.

I switched to a thumb release this year and really like it. I would also recommend the one that clips on the string and maybe one that has a rotating head. A lot of twisting of the d-loop with my Hot Shot (which I love), but because it does not have a twisting caliber head, has resulted in having some trouble keeping my peep in alignment. Hope this helps.

I have been shooting tru ball for a while with no complaints. Got a used carter chocolate addiction in the mail last night and the difference is night and day. Carter feels much better in hand. I can't wait to shoot it

So on the rotating head subject, I don't see any carter that rotate . Is this true? if not what brand does rotate ?

I have shot many thumb release over the years back when I did a lot of competing and my first suggestion would be get something made by Carter release. Quality is exceptional and it is a great brand that really stands behind its product.

Second of try to find somebody that has a few you can try or try to visit a shop that may let you try a few out. I honestly love my Just-Cuz but it may or may not fir you the same way. There are so many out there you really need to try a few before buying if possible.

ok thanks for the info aggie archer , I wished some were in my area had a few but not sure if I can find that option , so with that being said carter doesn't offer one that rotates , has that ever been a issue for you?

Not at all! That is what the d-loop is for, your string stays where it should and the d-loop rotates with the release. If you look at what the pro's are shooting I would be willing to bet a vast majority of them are shooting carter releases. Now they may not all be shootin the same ones because they have a preference in fit and style but the brand is the same.

With that said the carter's may be a bit more in price but the quality and craftsmanship make up for it, pay once, cry once comes to mind. With that said you may also be able to look online, as much as I try to stay away from Archerytalk.Com it may be a good place to get a good price on a used release if you wanted to try a certain style before buying new. I would have no problem buying a used carter knowing the quality of product as well.
